Meet Our Seasoned Panel of ADHD Experts

Michele Borba, EdD is an internationally recognized expert and author on child, teen, parent and personal development. She received a Doctorate in Educational Psychology and Counseling from the University of San Francisco, an MA in Learning Disabilities and a BA from the University of Santa Clara and a Life Teaching Credential from San Jose State University. Dr. Borba is a former classroom teacher who has worked with children with learning, physical, behavioral and emotional disabilities and in a private practice for troubled youth. Her work aims to help strengthen children’s character and resilience, build strong families and create compassionate and just school cultures. Dr. Borba’s practical, research-based advice is culled from a career of working with over one million parents and educators worldwide. Media outlets regularly depend on her as the “go-to” expert, and she is the award-winning author of 22 parenting and educational books.

Mr. Kirk Martin is the founder of and conducts over 200 workshops across the U.S. every year. Mr. Martin and his family opened up their own home to mentor and tutor 1,500 children with ADHD over the course of a decade, teaching them emotional self-regulation and social skills. Mr. Martin and his teenage son, Casey, both have ADHD. They have trained 300,000 parents, teachers and children on how to eliminate meltdowns and power struggles, improve focus and attention and foster responsible children. Mr. Martin has authored four books and hosts his own online radio show. Lisa Shives, MD, is board certified in internal medicine, sleep medicine and obesity medicine. She graduated from the University of Chicago medical school and completed her training at Yale, Northwestern and the University of Chicago. Dr. Shives is on the board of directors of the National Sleep Foundation and has been an official spokesperson for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for years. She has been interviewed by numerous magazines, including Prevention, Self, and More, and has appeared on TV shows, such as The Doctors. In addition, she has served as a sleep expert and weekly contributor to Dr. Shives is the founder and medical director of The Linden Center for Sleep and Weight Management (formerly Northshore Sleep Medicine), a private medical clinic and sleep testing facility in Skokie, Illinois.

Coaching and Parenting Expert

Elaine Taylor-Klaus, CPCC, PCC, is a mother of three, a professional certified coach and a passionate advocate for families. She is the CEO of ImpactADHD, a private business for the public good, which she co-founded with Diane Dempster to coach parents and empower them to improve the lives of their families by taking a coach-approach to parenting. Ms. Taylor-Klaus also works with her husband, David, at their company, Touchstone Coaching. She has been published in Attention magazine and Living Without magazine and is a regular columnist for ShareWIK media. Ms. Taylor-Klaus draws on her background as a national advocate and educator in women’s healthcare, as well as her experience as a social worker, yoga teacher, Labor & Delivery instructor, group facilitator, appointed member of Georgia's Governor’s Council for Maternal & Infant Health and the mother in an ADHD family of five.
